Karma and Aura work directly within your browser, reading and writing data for your macros locally. This means the content of your Karma page only moves from Confluence to the user's browser, not our servers. In contrast, many other plugins process macro data on their servers, but we've chosen a different path to ensure your macro data stays within your network.

There's one optional feature that deviates from this pattern. The custom section preset or custom page preset feature allows you to design reusable sections or page layouts for easy setup. Due to Confluence's limitations, we need to store these presets in our database. But rest assured, the data is encrypted and stored based on your preferences, and it's kept separate for each user. If you don't use this feature, no content is sent to our servers.

When you save a custom company preset, its content (except for media links) is stored in our database. But we don't have access to the macro or page using the preset. The preset's content is copied to the page where it's used, keeping it separate from our servers.

The preset feature is for creating standard elements for a consistent look across your pages. We recommend using placeholder text instead of sensitive data. It's optional, and exists for your convenience if you choose to use it.

Below is an example of the data stored for a preset (as a json file):
